.A wastewater treatment plant in an industrial park in Central Jiangsu Province has a design capacity of 30 000 m/d, accepting electronic, photovoltaic, and other refractory industrial wastewater. For this complex industrial wastewater, an integrated process-"improved anaerobic-anoxicoxic (AAO) membrane bioreactor (MBR) advanced treatment"-was developed to achieve advanced treatment performance. The improved AAO process enhances nitrogen removal efficiency through a four-stage biochemical reaction (anaerobic-anoxic-aerobic-post-anoxic), while the advanced treatment employs an integrated process: "ozone catalytic oxidation–high-efficiency sedimentation–denitrification filter tank. " Actual operation results in 2024 showed that the average concentrations of chemical oxygen demand (CODCr), ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N), total phosphorus (TP), and fluoride were 11, 0.23, 0.02, and 2.83 mg/L, respectively-all significantly better than Class IV standards of the Surface Water Environmental Quality Standard (GB 3838-2002). The average effluent total nitrogen (TN) concentration was 2.9 mg/L, meeting Class 1A standards of the Pollutant Discharge Standard for Urban Wastewater Treatment Plants (GB 18918-2002). A portion of the effluent is reused for road sprinkling and plant greening, while the remaining effluent undergoes further purification via an ecological safety buffer zone. This project provides a "Biological Enhancement Advanced Treatment" model scheme for treating similar industrial wastewater.
